VA STEM Scholarship FAQs
You must be enrolled, or in the final pre-enrollment stages in CIAT’s BASICS (Applied Bachelor Degree in Computer Information Systems) to apply for the VA STEM Scholarship.
The VA typically makes a decision about each scholarship within 30 days. Scholarships are awarded on a monthly basis. Keep an eye on official written letters from the VA, sent to your home address on file if more information is needed.
If the VA approves your application, you’ll get a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) in the mail. This is also called a decision letter. Please provide a copy of this document to your CIAT VA Certifying Official so that we can apply your benefits extension toward your upcoming tuition payments.
If you are not approved, you’ll get a denial letter in the mail.
If we approve your application, you’ll get a GI Bill® extension of up to 9 months (or $30,000, whichever comes first).
The Chapter 33 rates for private or foreign schools apply to the STEM scholarship as well. We update these rates each academic year.
