Topics include dimensional analysis, the periodic table, atomic theory, bonding, molecules and nomenclature, solutions, chemical reactions, mass relationships, acid–base theory, galvanic cells, and applications of modern chemistry.

  • Understand that all matter consists of atoms, and that the limitless variety of structures and substances around us stems from the ways atoms bond together.
  • Apply problem-solving strategies, interpret data, employ valid and efficient methods of analysis, and assess whether the results of calculations and experiments are reasonable.
